OhioHealth Marion General Hospital expansion

By MarionMade! on August 29, 2018

OhioHealth Marion Medical Campus — 1040 Delaware Ave. — recently received approval for $46 million for a four-year master facilities project featuring a new three-story addition to the hospital that will significantly increase the number of private rooms available for patients. Other improvements planned for the hospital include the renovation of existing patient rooms on three units, as well as upgrades for a number of areas at the Marion Medical Campus. This is one of the largest investments ever made on the OhioHealth campus in Marion.

“This is a great example of OhioHealth’s continued investment in the Marion community as well as our goal to positon Marion General as a Regional Referral Center for Marion and surrounding counties. We are bringing value to the community, investing in the local economy and helping to keep care local, best-in-class and affordable,” said Bruce P. Hagen, president, OhioHealth Marion General Hospital.

He added, “Continuing to expand our services and capabilities allows us to treat sicker patients in Marion. We want to have the space and resources to provide and attract specialists like pulmonologists, and offer access to critical care services close to home. This means investing in outpatient care and keeping patients in Marion. These improvements will truly allow us to take our patient care to a new level.”

This project announcement comes after OhioHealth opened a new facility in Downtown Marion in March of 2018 that includes a Heart Failure Clinic as well as a new Urgent Care and Primary Care Practice on Marion’s east side in early June.

Work for the new project is currently being prioritized and will begin in the Fall of 2018. The completion of the project is anticipated for Spring of 2022-the same year as Marion’s bicentennial celebration.
