Pleasant Robotics

By MarionMade! on June 13, 2018

PLEASANT SCHOOLS ROBOTICS TEAMS ROCK!

Two teams from Marion County went to the Vex IQ Challenge World Championship for robotics in April. The competition was held in Louisville, Kentucky this year. The “Duckster” team, from Pleasant Elementary, was comprised of Anna Songer, Maddie Murphy, and Josiah Reed–all fifth graders; Team “Fish & Beef” included Pleasant Middle School sixth graders Alex Honaker, Brayden Rinehart, Landon O’Donnell, and Jordan Trempert.

This was the Ducksters first trip to the world championship. They had a great time meeting teams from other countries and even competed alongside a team from Paraguay! There were 400 teams in competition for the title of Elementary Vex IQ World Champion. The Ducksters competed against 80 teams in their division. They brought their teamwork skills to the table and persevered but did not move on to the finals. They are a team that could certainly be looking for a repeat trip to world’s next year.

Team Fish & Beef competed very well in the Middle School section of 400 teams. They put up an impressive 272 points in one of their early matches and missed making the finals by just 5 points. Watch out for Fish & Beef, they will be back for more in the future!

Special thanks go out to all people and businesses in Marion that assisted in helping the teams get to be a part of such a great event! Great job Ducksters and Team Fish & Beef! Thanks for showing your MarionMade! pride.
