Local Foods

By MarionMade! on February 13, 2017

HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?

In Marion, Ohio, growing a garden that feeds the community is something that Dan Stewart from the Regional Planning Office can tell you all about. Because of his work through this department, he realized the need to provide healthy food options to the Marion area and he organized a non-profit called Local Foods. But, that’s only the tip of the iceberg for work coordinated out of the Marion Regional Planning Office. This team ensures Marion is getting as much support through grants and local and state initiatives as possible. They work cooperatively with the County, City, Townships and Villages that make up Marion County. They have helped secure grants and other funding for projects that most recently included funds to replace sidewalks, remove damaged trees, demolish abandoned houses, and much more. Marion Regional Planning has helped put Marion, Ohio, on the map – literally. They have helped make Marion what it is today, defining boundaries and providing support for significant growth and development of our community.
